ALEKO Hotel - Kythira, Greece

Construction: 2021

The “ALEKO” Hotel is located in village Diakofti, on the island of Kythira. Founded in 1980, the hotel was designed as a part of a traditional complex of buildings, with respect in the architectural values which are dominant in the area of Diakofti and surrounding villages. In 2020, the owners decided to fully renovate the hotel’s interior space.

In proximity to the sea, the hotel consists of seven bungalows that can host two to four people each. The design philosophy was to reproach the small scale hotel as a relaxing place, where the visitors can spend qualitive time in between the sea and the sun. The main inspiration came from the earthly colors, such as brown and ochre which can be found at the nearby landscape. Each of the 20 square-meter bungalows features handcrafted details and custom furniture, including upholstered headboard panels, rattan and wood wardrobes, transporting visitors to a unique summer destination that opens up to the landscape in all directions.
